Type 2 diabetes

In type 2 diabetes, insulin does not work well or there is not enough of it, so sugar can build up in the blood. Care includes more than glucose: medicines, food, activity, and checkups help protect your whole body. Your plan should fit your health and circumstances.

Your next steps after the visit

  1. Write down medicines, personal goals, and whether home monitoring is needed.

  2. Ask for a written plan for low glucose and sick days.

  3. Use the detailed diabetes guide and bring your questions to follow-up.

Questions for your care team

  • What should I focus on first?
  • Can my medicines cause low glucose?
  • Which checkups are due?
